In the common application dashboard, two types of online applications have been accepted on the official website, The first is instant with a linked mobile number which is fast and the second requires government or department officer approval. All types of applications are mentioned by the category we have listed above with the heading “Instant with Aadhaar” and “Service Through Office Approval”.

   After the approval of the common application, people can download the digital ration card pdf copy from the website. West Bengal state government declared that those electronic PDF copies of digital ration cards are the same value as a physical PVC Ration Card. Those electronic copies are called e-Ration Cards.

Different achievements of wbpds from other states of India

While the primary objectives of Public Distribution Systems (PDS) are generally consistent across Indian states, each state has achieved different milestones or implemented unique initiatives within its respective PDS programs. but here are some different

1. Services in geographical challenge areas       The geographical aspect of West Bengal within a state is hilly, forested, and riverine South Bengal. Public Distribution System has been providing services despite many obstacles for those types of geo challenges.

2. Special Allotment fights against Natural disasters and       On the other hand, the public distributor system has played an important role in West Bengal in natural calamities like Cyclone Aila and Cyclone Amphan. The people of Ayala affected areas have been allocated additional food items. Similarly, tea garden workers and those below the poverty line in Jangalmahal also receive other food items.

3.Rajya Khadya Suraksha Yojana       The Rajya Khadya Suraksha Yojana is a food security scheme. The West Bengal government introduced the act for the people of West Bengal who are left out of the NFSA scheme. It is designed to ensure food security for the state of West Bengal residents. This scheme is part of the broader National Food Security Act (NFSA) enacted by the Government of India.

4. Free Ration       In November 2021, the West Bengal government initiated a scheme known as Duare Ration to provide free rations to eligible beneficiaries in the state. This scheme was launched as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic to give relief to those affected by economic hardships during the pandemic.

5. Duyare Ration (Home delivery of Ration)       Duare Ration is an initiative of the current government of West Bengal; the term Duare Ration translates to Ration at Your Doorstep in Bengali. This program is a part of the West Bengal Public Distribution System (WBPDS). It aims to streamline the distribution of Rations (essential food items) to beneficiaries by delivering them directly to their homes.

6. Paddy Procurement        The state government started procuring paddy from farmers through the Food Supplies Department, particularly for the small and marginal farmers, to ensure a Minimum Support Price (MSP) for them and run Public Distribution System (WBPDS) under the Khadyasathi Scheme. For this scheme, the Food Supplies Department collects paddy from every block of West Bengal. People can register and sell their paddy on the epaddy.wb.gov.in website.
